DIY’s Annual Devised Theatre Project

diy-tom2It’s that time of year again and our tenant drama company begins work on their annual devised performance. The group has expanded to welcome a number of fresh new faces. The group will perform at WCC Christmas events in December.

Te Papa

Ko0uNFgpWe have a great history of using Museums as spaces for community creative expression. As our national Museum, Te Papa, embarks on a renewal of all its long term exhibits, we’ve been invited to offer our feedback on some of the initial concepts. It’s great to be one of voices in this significant process.

Small Windows on Big Stories

SWBS launch4A wonderful launch of our Small Windows on Big Stories radio dramas and partner book. Hosted by the Mayor, our tenant authors shared their experience of the project and what it is like being a first time author on National Radio. A great day!

Healing Stories with Mary Potter Hospice

MPH-LogoWe are delighted to be working with a new project partner, Mary Potter Hospice on a project creating stories with whanau and community about healing after loss.  This project will be based out in Porirua and will run August through to November.

Leadership with the Girl Guides

Girl guidesThis group of dedicated and passionate Girl Guide leaders have been learning how drama and improv based games and experiential exercises can be playful, powerful, and purposeful tools in a great leaders tool kit.

Great Time at Great Start

Taita Great startBringing together community organisations and agencies from across Taita, Voice Arts Trust facilitated a workshop to enable networking, sharing and learning. Hosted by Taita Great Start, with food provided by the Koha Kitchen, we played and laughed and got down to some serious connecting.  It was a great success with 15 different groups participating.  Thanks to Hutt City Council for supporting this workshop.

‘Those Who Care’ Film Project

Those who care2We are working in partnership with Ryman Healthcare to create a short documentary style film with staff exploring, from their perspectives, the intimate relationship between caregiver and patient. A relationship dictated by necessity, complicated by cultural, ethnic and religious difference, but so often deeply compassionate.

Neighbours Day 2016

Time In for Timebank Staff

TimebankThanks to funding support from the Hutt City Council, Voice Arts Trust had the opportunity to work with staff from Timebank. Staff from offices across the wider Wellington region came together in Petone for a rare opportunity to connect and learn from each other. “I love your processes, this has been one of the best workshops I have been too.” Workshop participant.
